Such A Good Show — TV Guide for streaming

I love TV. I grew up on M*A*S*H, All in the Family, Barney Miller, The Twilight Zone, The Carol Burnett Show, Cheers, Magnum P.I., Friends, Frasier, and Everybody Loves Raymond.

Now, my wife and I love to watch The White Lotus, Slow Horses, Hacks, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Succession, The Four Seasons, Ted Lasso, Chernobyl, Severance, Ozark, The Handmaid’s Tale, True Detective, Schitt’s Creek, and Only Murders in the Building. We also frequently go back to revisit some of the favorites we may have missed or forgotten about while we were busy raising a family — stuff like Breaking Bad, Mad Men, Call the Midwife, The Crown, The Sopranos, Veep, Band of Brothers, Fargo, Friday Night Lights, ER, The West Wing, The Wire, NYPD Blue, The Shield, Lost, Sons of Anarchy, House, The Leftovers, The Americans, The Good Place, and Brooklyn Nine-Nine.

I needed a TV Guide for streaming. Not to tell me when shows are on — shows are always on whenever you want — but to remind me what we’re watching. Not to mention the two most frequently asked questions in our household, where does that show live and what in the world happened last episode?

After years of swapping show recommendations with family to find great new things to watch together, I realized I needed something simple: a place to remind me what we are watching, provide easy recaps to jog our memory about what happened last time, and give a one-click link to the streaming service it’s on.

I built this to offer simplicity — no complicated technical integrations or messy password managers. Just a link, since I figure you’re already logged into Netflix, Prime, Hulu, or Disney.

So, I built this for us, and I thought others might enjoy it too.

It’s free, it has a few ads, and you can add up to 5 TV series to your shelf. We help you keep track of what you are watching, where it is, whether you like it, and what you might want to watch next. It’s fun, simple, and — I hope — user-friendly. Made by me, an avid TV buff.

If you want more, for $3 a month (billed annually), you get access to a ton of other great stuff. First and foremost, unlimited shows on your Shelves. I think you are going to love the episode recap feature, what’s on your shelf, what’s up next and your curated list based on your watching tastes. I made it super easy to get from here to where you can watch your next episode. I like to think that this is the tv show equivalent of a bookshelf, with books, each book containing a bookmark. SAGS, sorry about that, didn’t really think that one through! (Or maybe given some of the audience demographics, you own that?) :) I digress, so our site / app is like your library, shelves, boomarks for TV and Streaming. We don’t stream, we help you stream better! There are trailers, you can tell us if you liked the show or not and based on that, we’ll tell you what else you might want to consider. Best of all, it’s based on the streaming services that you subscribe to. We have 7, but if you have 1 or 3 or whatever, we suggest content that you already pay for elsewhere so that you get more bang for your streaming buck! But Scott, why is it annual billing? Well, I find that monthly does not have the gravitas of annual and for me, it’s a bit too much noise when it comes to entertainment. I like to pay for services that really deliver value and I just like the convenience of “set it and forget it,”. If you ever want to cancel, you can do it anytime with a single click. No hoops to jump through, no need to talk to anyone. We’d be bummed, but we also want you to control your entertainment spending. (And maybe just tell us what would make it more compelling for you to stay!)
